This photo was part of the camera club multi-screen theme. Essentially, multi-screen is like scavenger hunt but with photos.
MultiScreen is an annual photo competition between other participating camera clubs. The clubs are presented with a list 25 subjects taken within the dates indicated.
Photographers can interpret each category in any way they believe best fits but must depict the subject. Each club presents one photo of each subject that is judged among the other clubs. The photos are judged primarily on how well the interpretation is and then on photographic qualities
This photo I submitted for the theme “Neon”. I was disappointed in that it was not chosen to advance to compete with other clubs. However, I really like it :)
I went to the Hartley Reservoir Wildlife Management Area located in Rochester Massachusetts for a discovery walk. It was my first time at this area and was surprised by a few sights.
The main surprise was an otter in the distance. And the notable birds were Ring-necked Ducks, Hooded Mergansers, and Buffleheads. Actually, any duck other than a mallard is a welcomed sight since mallards dominate the waters.
The trails are unmarked, wide and well used. There are many side trails that are not maintained and overgrown. I explored one trail and it came to a dead end.
The area is used for a multitude of recreational activities. Use of horses, and dirt bikes were evident. As I walked the trail, the ducks were unusually skittish and as I found out later, I spotted a duck blind and lost duck decoys. The decoys seemed to have gotten lost and were floating at the water’s edge. No wonder the ducks are skittish!
I would like to go back and explore the area once more.
